Verto Education UK is hiring Resident Assistants (RAs) to be based in London, England, for the Autumn 2026 programme (August–December). The RA serves as a facilitator to encourage a positive and welcoming, healthy and safe, cooperative, and considerate living environment. The RA also assists with students' personal concerns and helps manage conflicts that may arise in the residential area. Therefore, an RA is expected to be someone who cares about residents and continuously strives to make the residence a safe, valuable, and educational place to live. In addition to supporting students and colleagues, RAs focus on creating positive and valuable communal environments for students living within the student residences. This role is a live-in position with night and weekend responsibilities and participation in an after-hours on-call rotation. The accommodation package includes a fully furnished single-occupancy studio within the student accommodation location. The studio includes access to a fridge, freezer, basic cooking utensils, and a stovetop for meal preparation. The Resident Assistant reports directly to the Student Success Manager.

What You'll Be Doing

  • On-call responsibilities will be shared between two Resident Assistants through a structured rota system, with each RA holding the emergency duty phone for half the programme period.
  • The role is residential and requires the RA to be in residence overnight whilst students are in residence during term time, unless otherwise agreed.
  • Support students during evenings and weekends.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and help staff ensure the safe and professional running of the London programme.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for students under the age of 18.
  • Conduct nightly walkthroughs of the residence at varying times to support student welfare and safety.
  • Respond to student concerns and emergencies as required and report issues in accordance with programme procedures.
  • Act as a referral agent in serious emergency situations.
  • Inform the Student Success Manager of incidents, behavioural concerns, and trends within the residence.
  • Monitor student behaviour policies and protocols while upholding a high standard of conduct.

Community Building and Connection

  • Assist students with their transition to university and community life, including adjusting to roommates, residence living, and the broader Verto community, while providing appropriate support for personal and group concerns.
  • Understand the rationale behind housing policies and procedures and enforce them effectively.
  • Develop positive working relationships with Student Success Advisors and peer staff members.
  • Assist in maintaining order during emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and high ethical standards at all times while maintaining clear, consistent communication with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Assist with residence matters regardless of duty schedule.
