This role can be based in one of the following facilities - Burnfoot, Ireland / Nove Mesto, Slovakia / Bologna, Italy.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for supplier quality management, supplier development, qualification, auditing, and quality assurance activities for Electrical Components including power switching devices, circuit breakers, fuses, wires, cables, and related electrical parts. The role supports NPDI and serial production activities by ensuring supplier capability, compliance with electrical and quality standards, and continuous supplier performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Qualify, evaluate, audit, and develop suppliers within the Electrical Components commodity.
- Lead supplier quality assurance activities during NPDI and serial production phases.
- Ensure activities related to material and component quality during development and industrialization phases.
- Coordinate and manage PPAP (Product Part Approval Process) activities with suppliers.
- Perform periodical supplier evaluations and supplier performance monitoring.
- Support supplier capability assessments and supplier improvement programs.
- Manage non-conforming material processes including containment, corrective actions, and return-back procedures.
- Coordinate supplier corrective actions and root cause analysis activities.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding all quality-related topics.
- Support Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project teams regarding supplier quality matters.
- Ensure supplier compliance with drawings, specifications, electrical standards, and customer requirements.
- Participate in supplier audits, workshops, inspections, and technical review meetings.
- Bachelor's degree or higher education qualification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical field.
- Experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or quality assurance within industrial or electrical manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of electrical components such as power switching devices, circuit breakers, fuses, relays, wires, cables, electrical harnesses, and electrical assemblies.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, cable specifications, and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of quality tools such as 8D, RCA, FMEA, and CAPA.
- Strong communication and supplier management skills.
- Experience working with international suppliers.
- Fluent English communication.
- Knowledge of IEC and electrical industry standards.
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes for electrical components, wires, and cables.
- Experience with supplier audits and process validation.
- Familiarity with PPAP, APQP, and supplier quality processes.
- Experience with testing and inspection of electrical components, wires, cables, and harness assemblies.
TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED: 80% primarily across EMEA.
