The Vertiv Powerbar patented range of busbar trunking adds overhead power distribution to data centers, allowing increased accessibility to power loads for maintenance. Circuits can be added and removed easily as they are located just above their respective racks. This allows changes to be made in a cost-efficient and timely manner. Our Powerbar products also complement the Switchgear range to provide a complete power distribution solution. All products are designed and manufactured at our plants in Ireland.
JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for all engineering-related activities in support of growing the Busbar global line of business. You will be responsible for establishing regional engineering standards to drive design consistency across the region while improving cost competitiveness, ease of manufacturability and field serviceability of Busbar products. You will manage all mechanical and electrical engineers for the Busbar line of business across your region by co-ordination with regional Engineering managers to standard engineering processes globally. This position requires strong collaboration across E+I & Vertiv Regional Managers, sales and operations teams and will work in close partnership with the broader Vertiv Lines of Business to leverage common standards and design tools.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive standardization of design, creating global platforms that can be tailored to regional-specific needs.
- Balance engineering demand with available engineering capacity, optimizing work effort regional.
- Improve core engineering processes and tools to streamline design efforts and increase visibility and tracking of status and key work products (e.g. submittals traceability etc.).
- Personally engage in engineering activities with customers and programs.
- Define and improve standard work documentation in line with global standards for the engineering team, audit the team's work for conformance to defined processes, and monitor improvement to team KPIs.
- Manage the recruiting, onboarding, and development of engineering personnel to improve individual capabilities, productivity, and performance.
- Maintain appropriate contacts with industry organizations, regulatory agencies, and external pressures to maintain technical leadership.
- Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) to optimize the cost structure of Busbar products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- HND or degree in Engineering, Engineering Management experience.
- Managerial skills are necessary to plan, measure, and motivate people to continuously improve their output and personal growth.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to build diverse relationships internally and externally.
