Responsibilities
- Lead by example and direct other engineers in the conduct of product development for CDU (Cool‑Down Unit) development.
- Check and approve drawings and bill of materials.
- Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities in the design and development and identify alternative component selection.
- Technical Leadership: Guide the team’s (matrix organization) technical direction, make or influence architectural decisions, and ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
- Project Oversight: Manage timelines and deliverables from concept through to delivery. Serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders and cross‑functional teams (e.g., electrical, software, and manufacturing) at a global level.
- Quality & Compliance: Develop and enforce engineering standards and quality procedures (e.g., ISO, ASME, or GD&T). Good understanding of root‑cause analysis of failures and implementation of corrective actions.
- Procurement & Vendor Support: Support early sourcing activities by evaluating vendor proposals and ensuring third‑party components meet technical specifications. Drive initiatives with speed, precision, and discipline.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5‑10 years of experience in a leading role in product development.
- Ability to work and multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offers and receives constructive criticism.
- Ability to mentor and guide less experienced team members as well as take direction and guidance from managers and directors.
- Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for phases of the product development process.
- Excellent project management and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably CREO 4.0 and greater.
- Knowledge of UL Standards, ASHRAE for HVAC systems, preferably Data Centres.
- Experience in a regulated industry.
- A good understanding of R&D development and workflow.
- Able to systematically solve issues by troubleshooting through experience.
- Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes action to resolve.
- Exceptional communication, problem‑solving, and strategic thinking abilities to bridge the gap between technical teams and non‑technical management.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2‑4 years of experience in an HVAC‑related industry.
- Experience with PLM systems (BOM management and change order release).
- Experience working closely with associates in manufacturing engineering and production roles.
Education and Certifications
- B‑Eng Degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Chartered engineer of a recognized institution or working toward becoming chartered.
