The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for supporting the EHS Supervisor and helping to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations. Implementing and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Promoting and engagement in good catch programme.
- EHS training records - keeping up to date and checking for renewal dates.
- Maintaining records in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.
- Preparation of monthly global safety KPI's.
- Assist in the implementation of health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with local and national safety regulations.
- Actively encouraging reporting of SIF-P.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits of work areas to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Complete risk assessments and document findings, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Monitor safety performance and assist in the development of reports on safety incidents, accidents, and trends.
- Ensure safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are in good condition and readily available for employees.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of health and safety training for employees to ensure awareness of safety procedures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents and help prepare reports with recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintaining accident trend analysis.
- Stay up to date with health and safety regulations, laws, and best practices to support company compliance.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure that the company adheres to all health and safety regulations.
- Assist with the development and enforcement of emergency procedures for various scenarios.
- Provide administrative support for health and safety initiatives, including document management and data entry.
- Collaborate with department managers to promote a culture of health and safety within the organization.
- Ensure completion of First aid and fire equipment weekly and monthly checks.
- Ensure Air leaks, spill kits and hazardous waste monitoring.
- Occupational Health Surveillance - administering and planning for appointments, and records, including communication of same to HR.
- COSHH - ensuring supplier data sheets are up to date, recording information into COSHH database, writing up information sheets and keeping records of communication of risk assessment and info sheets.
- Compliance audit checklists - receiving, logging and compiling statistics.
- FLT and Equipment Pre-Use Inspections - receiving logging and following up and defects and actions.
- Safety Memos and other communications - sending out into the business.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications: NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) membership (desirable).
- More than 3 years of experience.
- Strong Safety Leadership.
- Emergency Management.
- Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills.
- Experience with risk assessments and audits.
- Professional communication skills with workers, management, and external authorities and ability to influence and engage employees at all levels to drive a proactive EHS culture.
- Excellent Team player.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Knowledge of legal requirements in Environmental, Health and Safety and civil protection areas.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (Desirable).
