Vertiv is seeking an experienced NPDI Sourcing Engineer to join the Global Procurement Team. This role will lead sourcing and procurement activities for assigned product lines throughout the New Product Development and Introduction (NPD/NPI) lifecycle. The successful candidate will serve as the primary procurement interface between Engineering, Commodity Management, Suppliers, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches, supply chain readiness, cost competitiveness, and on-time delivery.
The role is responsible for supporting prototype builds, supplier selection, BOM cost management, production transfers, risk mitigation, and procurement deliverables from concept through mass production. This will be an onsite position and can be based in one of the following facilities: ROI - Burnfoot or Letterkenny, NI - Campsie.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all procurement and sourcing activities throughout the NPI lifecycle, from concept and prototype stages through pilot builds and mass production.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Commodity Management, Operations, and Suppliers to support successful product launches.
- Ensure components are sourced from preferred suppliers while meeting cost, quality, lead-time, and supply continuity objectives.
- Drive supplier readiness and material availability to support key development milestones and production schedules.
- Support prototype sourcing strategy and coordinate rapid turnaround of prototype materials with Engineering and Purchasing teams.
- Review supplier quotations, tooling requirements, and manufacturing proposals, providing recommendations based on cost, quality, and risk considerations.
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities, including e-Auctions, value engineering, and supplier negotiations.
- Own and maintain purchase BOM cost reporting, including tracking cost changes against target pricing.
- Coordinate with regional and global procurement teams to mitigate supply chain risks and support production transfer activities.
- Conduct sourcing reviews for critical projects and ensure mitigation actions are completed on time.
- Lead or participate in NPD/NPI review meetings and support procurement deliverables for stage-gate reviews.
- Ensure procurement KPIs are accurately reported and drive corrective actions where performance targets are not achieved.
- Support supplier risk and resiliency assessments to strengthen supply continuity and business readiness.
- Coordinate launch and ramp-up activities with EMS and manufacturing partners to meet project timelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial), Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related functions. Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI/NPDI) programs in a manufacturing or technology environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of supply chain, sourcing, and procurement processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in cross-functional and matrix organizations.
- Knowledge of product industrialization, supplier development, and production launch processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to build effective supplier partnerships and influence cross-functional teams globally.
- Experience with ERP and PLM systems, along with strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Willingness to collaborate across global time zones as required.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive change and process optimization.
