Vertiv is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fabrication Engineer to join our Modular Solutions team in Letterkenny. The successful candidate will support the design, detailing, and fabrication of modular units within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with design, production, and project teams to ensure fabrication drawings, models, and manufacturing documentation are delivered accurately and efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience using detailing and 3D modelling software such as Tekla Structures, SolidWorks, and Autodesk Inventor, along with a solid understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation for modular units and associated components.
- Develop and maintain 3D models using Tekla Structures, SolidWorks, and Autodesk Inventor.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with project requirements.
- Review engineering designs and identify opportunities for improved manufacturability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Support fabrication activities by resolving technical issues and providing engineering guidance to the production floor.
- Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with company standards, industry regulations, and health & safety requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate revision control and document management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with material take-offs, BOM creation, and production planning support as required.
- Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a fabrication or manufacturing engineering environment.
- Strong proficiency in: Tekla Structures, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience producing fabrication and manufacturing drawings for steel structures, modular systems, or industrial equipment.
- Good understanding of fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal, structural steel, and assembly techniques.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within deadlines.
- Experience working in a modular construction or data centre manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and document control processes.
- Knowledge of relevant fabrication and structural standards.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
