Our MV & LV Switchgear division designs and manufactures electrical distribution equipment for business-critical applications throughout Europe. Due to continued growth, Vertiv/E&I Engineering Ltd is seeking to recruit an Engineering Manager to join the leadership team and support our significant plans for growth.
POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves directly supervising, supporting, and providing leadership to a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design execution of switchgear skid projects for a wide range of customers with a primary focus in the data center sector. This includes delivering detailed system designs for customers while managing all relevant engineering disciplines to ensure on-time execution of engineering deliverables. This will require management of both internal and third-party engineering resources to ensure compliance with all applicable regional standards and codes along with customer requirements in full alignment with internal Vertiv quality standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management of the Engineering team who will be responsible for the technical execution of switchgear skid projects from initial design through production along with offering technical support post shipment.
- Lead the Engineering team to create designs which meet or exceed Vertiv's quality requirements and fall within budgetary requirements.
- Coordinate all Engineering disciplines including Structural, Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical and BMS/Controls with a team that consists of any combination of Vertiv and third-party Engineers.
- Work with other Vertiv business units and preferred third party equipment suppliers for appropriate selection of equipment meeting customer and project requirements.
- Interact with the customer and their Engineering teams to coordinate the Vertiv design with the customer's requirements and expectations.
- Interact with the customer and their permitting agent when required to support the customer's permitting efforts.
- Manage and coordinate contracted engineering companies in relation to Structural designs and calculations and factory shop drawing development.
- Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with regional and municipal requirements and building codes.
- Be familiar with standards - IEC, EN, BS and ASTM for structural steel material specification and finish.
- Support of onsite project operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review.
- Offer creative, out of the box solutions to the customer.
- Create and improve existing engineering plans, processes and procedures.
- Perform annual performance evaluations and set objectives for their Engineering team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- 6+ years of engineering and management experience.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Solidworks, etc.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications.
- Experience reading, understanding and interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications.
- Fundamental understanding of critical data center equipment.
- Excellent organization skills and must be detail oriented.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Strong leadership skills.

TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED
Up 5% EMEA regional travel required.
