Our MV & LV Switchgear division designs and manufactures electrical distribution equipment for business-critical applications throughout Europe. Due to continued growth, Vertiv/E&I Engineering Ltd is seeking to recruit ambitious and motivated Electrical Design/Control Engineers to join our team. The successful candidates will use intuitive electrical design software and established electrical standards to create design solutions that comply with client functional design specifications. This position is best suited to someone who enjoys being technically challenged and applying electrical principles to produce successful solutions in a busy design office, with proximity to the manufacturing environment to test and prove theoretical designs. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work within the Electrical Design team in the preparation of detailed design drawings and documentation for our Switchgear Manufacturing department.
- In depth review of tender information including specifications, single line diagrams and quotations to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Review of electrical design drawings compiled by junior design engineers as well as coaching and mentoring those junior members of the team.
- Contribute to the development of new practices and processes within the design team and assist in implementation of these to improve department performance.
- Using knowledge of IEC/IET/IEE standards to ensure products are designed to comply with all relevant electrical regulations and standards.
- Work with the project management team to ensure all project timelines and goals are met or exceeded on multiple projects at any given time.
- Development of software for a range of standard control equipment and creation of test scripts to prove out functionality of control schemes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3rd level qualification in Engineering or 5 years relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience in a related position / comparable role involving exposure to design engineering and managing multiple projects.
- Proven understanding of wiring standards including but not limited to BS7671 - 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
- Aptitude for problem solving and ability to apply this to electrical control design.
- An adaptability to respond to a fast-moving business environment.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Display a proactive flexible approach to working within a team environment.
