Job Summary: As a Robotic Plasma Operator in the Fabrication Department, you will play a key role in manufacturing modular units for data centers. Using advanced robotic plasma cutting machines, you will be responsible for cutting and shaping metal components to exact specifications required for the production of data center infrastructure units. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Robotic Plasma Cutting Machines: Set up, program, and operate robotic plasma cutters to precisely cut structural steel sections and components for modular data center units.
  • Machine Setup and Calibration: Calibrate robotic plasma systems, including adjusting cutting speeds, power settings, and cutting paths according to technical drawings and job specifications.
  • Material Handling: Ensure accurate material placement, including loading/unloading of the steel and ensuring material dimensions meet specifications for data center unit fabrication.
  • Quality Control: Inspect cut parts for accuracy, consistency, and conformance to blueprints and drawings. Ensure that cuts meet all required tolerances and are free of defects.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on plasma cutting systems, identifying and resolving machine or process issues promptly.
  • Collaboration with Fabrication Team: Work closely with other team members, including welders, assemblers, and designers, to ensure timely and efficient production of data center modules.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and best practices in a fabrication environment. Utilize PPE and ensure safety protocols are followed when operating machinery.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machine settings, maintenance logs, and production output, ensuring traceability and consistency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and work with the team to implement efficiencies that enhance production workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Technical training or certification in Robotics, Welding, Automation, or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience operating robotic plasma cutters, CNC machinery, or similar equipment in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming, operating, and troubleshooting robotic plasma cutting machines.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and material specifications.
  • Experience with metal fabrication techniques, particularly in cutting and shaping steel and other metals used in data center infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with robotics, CNC machinery, and basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve machine or production issues quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Attention to Detail: Focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of machine operation and fabrication.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members across the fabrication department.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced and dynamic fabrication environment focused on modular unit production for data centers.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
