Our MV Switchgear division designs and manufactures electrical distribution equipment for business‑critical applications throughout Europe. Due to continued growth, Vertiv is seeking to recruit an ambitious and motivated Medium Voltage Estimator to join our team.
Position Summary
Our company is growing rapidly and is searching for experienced candidates for the position of Estimator. Reporting to the Estimating Manager & Estimating Team Lead, this position will present an excellent opportunity and will involve working closely with sales, contractors, consultants and various departments within the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of detailed material take‑offs and quotations for large‑scale prestigious electrical switchgear and power distribution projects in diverse applications throughout the UK and overseas.
- Liaison with salesmen, contractors, consulting engineers and end‑users to develop and prepare comprehensive quotations.
- Preparation of equipment layout drawings.
- Setting up of project folders and issuing of project details for the engineers.
- Other associated duties commensurate with the role.
- Prioritise and follow through on material take‑offs at all stages and present data in a timely and accurate fashion.
Qualifications
Minimum two years exposure in a sales/quotation support role, ideally within a manufacturing/engineering setting, with experience liaising with contractors or consulting engineers. OR hold a related HND/Degree in Engineering/Business coupled with at least one year’s exposure in a sales/quotation support role, ideally within a manufacturing/engineering setting, with experience liaising with contractors or consulting engineers.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience in an electrical contracting / engineering / estimating background environment is preferred, but not essential.
Physical & Environmental Demands
- High level of computer literacy (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Logical and methodical approach to the role.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Professional telephone manner when dealing with clients.
- Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
