The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining plant equipment and facilities, ensuring compliance with electrical standards, and supporting operational excellence initiatives. Key responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and electrical systems
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults on plant equipment, control systems, and automation
  • Support rapid response to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC logic (where applicable)
  • Carry out electrical maintenance on site infrastructure, including:
  • Lighting systems (internal & external)
  • Power distribution boards and circuits
  • HVAC and building services systems
  • Fire alarm and emergency lighting systems
  • Install new electrical circuits, containment systems, and equipment
  • Support facility upgrades, expansions, and layout changes (machines, offices, utilities)
  • Perform electrical testing, inspection, and certification where required
  • Assist with contractor supervision and project work on site electrical installations
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, electrical standards, and site policies
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and system records

    Essential Skills, Qualifications/Experience

    • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Installation
    • Time-served electrician / apprenticeship completed
    • Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments preferred
    • Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and automation (PLC experience desirable)
    • Knowledge of electrical regulations and safe isolation procedures
    • Experience with fault finding on production machinery and plant equipment

    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure
