Vertiv is seeking a Product Quality Engineer (PQE) to support major Engineer-to-Order (ETO) projects from order intake through customer handover and commissioning. This role acts as a key liaison between local Service organizations and central functions including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and Marketing to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood, effectively communicated, and successfully implemented throughout the project lifecycle. The Product Quality Engineer will coordinate cross‑functional activities, support on‑site execution when required, monitor project quality performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on field feedback and product performance. This position will be based onsite at our Campsie, Northern Ireland facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the successful execution of ETO projects from design through assembly, testing, commissioning, and customer handover.
- Coordinate communication and activities between local teams and central functions including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Marketing, and Service.
- Support project milestones and quality activities including kick-off meetings, PDCA documentation, closure reviews, assembly processes, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and witness testing.
- Collect and manage technical and commercial project documentation, including drawings, order documentation, configuration settings, and related records, ensuring availability to local teams supporting site activities.
- Monitor site readiness and project execution activities, including schedules, utilities availability, and commissioning plans, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication between local and central teams to resolve project issues efficiently and minimize delays.
- Identify, report, and follow up on technical or quality issues found during design, manufacturing, testing, installation, or commissioning phases.
- Visit customer sites before, during, and after commissioning activities as required to support local teams and gather feedback for product and process improvements.
- Ensure actions assigned to central functions are completed effectively and within agreed timelines.
- Monitor product performance after customer handover and report significant field issues to R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and other relevant departments.
- Lead the development and maintenance of FMEAs, control plans, and quality protocols for manufacturing processes.
- Develop and improve standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of manufactured and purchased products.
- Support Supplier Quality and manufacturing plants in executing supplier PPAP activities.
- Review and approve PPAP documentation from internal and external suppliers.
- Lead corrective action activities and facilitate cross‑functional teams using 8D problem‑solving methodology.
- Support customer complaint investigations and product return analysis activities.
- Monitor global field failure trends and support continuous improvement and product reliability initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred. Technical school background with relevant industry experience may also be considered.
Experience
- 3–5+ years of experience in technical roles such as Quality, Service, Product Management, Manufacturing, or Engineering.
- Experience supporting power products, industrial equipment, or ETO manufacturing environments preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of power products, electrical systems, and engineering principles.
- Strong understanding of quality processes, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, and 8D methodologies preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate activities across multiple departments and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Customer‑focused mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional and international teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites when required.
