YOUR CORE PURPOSE WILL BE

To take a hands‑on lead in the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel, ensuring all areas, equipment, plant, fixtures and facilities are safe, well maintained, operational and presented to the required standard.

This role requires a Maintenance Manager who is actively involved in carrying out maintenance tasks and repairs, while also coordinating contractors, managing compliance requirements and supporting the wider hotel operation.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITY
  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs and general handyman duties across all areas of the hotel, including bedrooms, public areas, back‑of‑house areas, grounds, plant rooms and staff facilities.
  • Perform preventive, planned and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure the hotel remains safe, functional and well presented for guests and team members.
  • Take a proactive approach by carrying out regular walk‑rounds of the hotel and grounds, identifying potential issues and resolving them promptly wherever possible.
  • Respond directly to maintenance requests, guest room issues, equipment faults and operational call‑outs in line with the department’s standards and rota requirements.
  • Have thorough knowledge of the hotel’s plant, equipment and systems, ensuring they are maintained in efficient working order through routine inspections, repairs and servicing.
  • Be responsible for the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule, ensuring tasks are completed on time and recorded accurately.
  • Carry out weekly fire alarm checks and other routine safety checks in line with hotel procedures and legal requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised maintenance workshop and storage areas, ensuring tools, supplies, furniture, fixtures and equipment are properly secured and controlled.
  • Order and maintain parts, tools and supplies in a timely and cost‑effective manner, minimising waste and supporting the hotel’s environmental and energy‑saving initiatives.
  • Support energy management, preventive maintenance and capital planning by identifying practical improvements and cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans, monitoring expenses carefully while ensuring essential works are completed.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors on site, ensuring Permits to Work are completed and that all work complies with Company Health & Safety procedures.
  • Act as Clerk of Works where required, checking the quality, safety and progress of work carried out by contractors.
  • Support hotel renovations, maintenance projects and improvement works, taking a hands‑on role where appropriate and ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely and within budget.
  • Have knowledge of hotel security, emergency procedures, fire life safety and crisis management, supporting the hotel in minimising risk from theft, crime, hazards or operational disruption.
  • Host the monthly Fire Life Safety and Crisis Management meetings and distribute meeting minutes where required.
  • Carry out ad hoc projects using practical maintenance skills and operational knowledge to achieve the most effective outcome for the hotel.
  • Work closely with the hotel management team and operational departments to prioritise maintenance needs and reduce disruption to guests and colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. The role may also include serving as Manager on Duty when required.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING

Hands‑on experience in managing all the key functions required of a Maintenance Manager, also a comprehensive understanding of functions such as finance, safety, health and hygiene.

Be able to foster collaboration with all stakeholders and has experience to deal and negotiate with contractors, suppliers and other partners.

Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate the results clearly, through monthly performance reports and other relevant source.

Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining presence and communicating effectively at all levels within the hotel, Marriott Hotels and Vertiq and other key stakeholders.

Be a self‑starter with excellent attention to detail and have the ability to establish a process for activities that lead to the implementation of the agreed operations strategy, systems, procedures or outcomes.

Comfortable with accountability and makes considered business decisions willingly and in an analytical and strategic manner.
