Vertical Recruitment are working with a multidisciplinary consultancy delivering engineering, asset management and commercial services across the water, energy and environmental sectors. Due to continued growth and an increase in workload across long term frameworks, they are looking to appoint a Principal or Senior Civil Engineer to support major wastewater programmes.
The Opportunity - This role is suited to an experienced Civil Engineer with strong technical knowledge of wastewater networks, drainage and flood risk. You will take a lead role across multidisciplinary projects, providing technical leadership, managing delivery and supporting the development of engineers within the team.
The position offers hybrid working, with 2 to 3 days per week based from a client office and site visits as required.
Projects and Sectors:
- Wastewater and sewage treatment
- Drainage and flood risk management
- Infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes
- Feasibility, outline and detailed design
Responsibilities are likely to include:
- Managing a portfolio of multidisciplinary projects and programmes
- Providing technical leadership and direction across schemes
- Planning and controlling tasks, resources and outputs
- Ensuring quality processes and technical assurance are maintained
- Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Supporting the resolution of technical and project challenges
- Line management and mentoring of team members
- Promoting safety, quality and sustainability best practice
- Supporting innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborating with other technical teams across the business
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or similar
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards
- Strong experience within the UK water sector
- Technical expertise in wastewater networks, drainage and flood risk
- Proven project delivery and leadership experience
- Commercial and contractual awareness
- Strong communication and client facing skills
Desirable Experience:
- Coordination with hydraulic modellers
- Tekla TEDDS / TEDS calculations
- Reinforced concrete design
- CSO and storage tank design
- Knowledge of UK water industry standards
