We're supporting a leading construction consultancy that is currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the National Grid’s Great Grid Upgrade – the largest overhaul of the UK electricity network in generations. This initiative forms part of National Grid’s £30bn investment in electricity networks across England and Wales over the next four years, helping to connect renewable energy to homes and businesses while modernising the UK’s power infrastructure. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant energy projects, supporting the delivery of complex substation and electrical infrastructure upgrades.
Position: Permanent
On-Site Requirement: 2–3 days per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead commercial management and cost control across major substation and utility infrastructure upgrades.
- Manage NEC3/NEC4 contracts, variations, and compensation events.
- Work closely with clients, contractors, and project teams to drive value and performance.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to inform project decisions.
- Support pre-construction activities, including risk management and stakeholder reporting.
- Provide advice on cost management, procurement, and project financial planning.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven infrastructure-related Quantity Surveying experience, ideally in utilities, power, or electrical sectors.
- Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and commercial management practices.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline; RICS or equivalent chartership is advantageous.
- Excellent financial management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams and maintain strong client relationships.
