We are supporting a growing independent construction consultancy based in the North West who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at an early stage of its growth, working closely with the Directors and taking a key role in delivering a varied portfolio of projects across the region and wider UK. The business has built a strong reputation for providing commercial and cost management advice across a diverse range of sectors, with an increasing pipeline of work and genuine opportunities for progression.
The Projects
One of the key attractions of the role is the variety of projects and sectors you will be exposed to. Current and recent projects include:
- Commercial developments
- Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA)
- Residential and mixed-use developments
- Industrial & logistics schemes
- Retail projects
- Education projects
- Infrastructure programmes
- Regeneration and development schemes
The project portfolio includes schemes across the North West and wider UK, with projects in locations including Manchester, Altrincham, Liverpool, Blackpool and Leeds, alongside a number of projects further afield. You will have the opportunity to work across projects from early feasibility and cost planning through to procurement, contract administration and final account.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who wants to take genuine ownership of projects and play an important role within a growing consultancy. You will be involved in:
- Managing projects from inception through to completion
- Providing commercial and cost management advice
- Cost planning, estimating and forecasting
- Procurement and tender management
- Contract administration
- Valuations and financial reporting
- Cost control and change management
- Risk management and value engineering
- Preparing commercial reports and advice for clients
- Working closely with clients, contractors and wider project teams
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team
You will work closely with the Directors and have the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the continued growth of the business.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is commercially astute, client-focused and enjoys working within a collaborative, close-knit consultancy environment. You will ideally have:
- Strong Quantity Surveying experience within construction or consultancy
- Good pre- and post-contract experience
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
- Experience across a range of project sectors
- Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
- The confidence to take ownership of projects
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- A proactive and commercially minded approach
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior surveyors
- MRICS would be advantageous, although candidates who are working towards chartership will also be considered.
