Role Overview

We are recruiting a Mechanical Site Manager / Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major office block development in Manchester. This is a site-based role with responsibility for managing and coordinating mechanical works from installation through to commissioning and handover. The initial appointment will be tied to the current project through to July 2027, with the successful candidate then moving onto subsequent projects within the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day delivery of mechanical works on site
  • Manage mechanical subcontractors, labour, and materials
  • Review and coordinate mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical submissions
  • Support short-term and look-ahead planning
  • Ensure quality of installation meets design, specification, and programme requirements
  • Monitor progress and report to the Project Manager
  • Attend site and coordination meetings
  • Manage snagging, testing, commissioning, and handover activities
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards at all times
  • Support completion of O&M manuals and project documentation

Requirements

  • Experience in a Mechanical Site Manager or Mechanical Project Engineer role
  • Strong background in mechanical building services on commercial or office projects
  • Good understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret drawings and technical information
  • Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
  • Proactive, organised, and comfortable in a fast-paced site environment
  • SMSTS or SSSTS preferred (or willingness to obtain)
