We are seeking a Freelance Quantity Surveyor for a dynamic construction consultancy team. This role will involve delivering high-profile projects within the utilities and electrical sector. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Management: Oversee and manage the financial and contractual aspects of projects from inception to completion.
- Cost Management: Prepare, manage, and negotiate project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.
- Contracts Administration: Administer NEC3/4 contracts, ensuring compliance and effective management of contract variations.
- Early Phases Management: Handle early project phases, including managing consent orders and PCS contracts.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on project costs, expenditure, and progress for stakeholders.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks, proposing effective mitigation strategies.
- Liaison: Collaborate with project teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Site Visits: Conduct site visits to Chesterfield, Birmingham, and London as required.
- New 400kV Substations: Oversee the financial management of three new substations.
- Overhead Lines: Manage the cost control for the installation of 60km of new overhead electrical lines.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in infrastructure projects within the utilities sector.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts.
- Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Education: Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Certifications: Professional membership in RICS or similar is desirable.
- Hybrid Working: Based in Manchester for 2 days a week with the flexibility of remote working for the rest of the week.
- Travel: Occasional travel to project sites in Chesterfield, Birmingham, and London.
