A leading global consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the delivery of major water infrastructure projects in the South West, including work across the AMP8 programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of project delivery, manage client relationships, and bring strong NEC expertise to a high-profile pipeline of work.

The Opportunity

Working closely with a key regional utilities client, you will lead the commercial management of complex infrastructure schemes, ensuring robust cost control and contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Based in Exeter, this role offers hybrid working (3 days in the office), with accommodation (2 nights per week) and expenses available for those based further afield.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial and cost management of infrastructure projects from feasibility through to completion
  • Develop and manage cost plans, budgets, and financial reporting
  • Lead procurement strategies and tender processes
  • Take full ownership of NEC contract administration, including compensation events, change control, and dispute avoidance
  • Ensure commercial governance and compliance with NEC frameworks and client requirements
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to clients and stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Mentor and support junior team members

About You

  • Proven experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level within a consultancy or infrastructure environment
  • Strong, hands-on experience administering NEC contracts (essential)
  • Demonstrable experience managing compensation events and commercial risk under NEC
  • Background in water, utilities, or civil engineering projects (AMP8 exposure beneficial)
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially astute, proactive, and confident leading project delivery
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or equivalent), or working towards chartership
