Vertical Recruitment are working closely with an established Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy who are looking to appoint a Graduate Structural Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Structural Engineer with 1 to 2 years’ experience who is looking to build their career within a supportive engineering environment, gain exposure to a wide range of technically interesting projects and continue developing their structural design skills.
The consultancy delivers structural engineering solutions across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, student accommodation, leisure, retail and industrial developments. Their project portfolio includes residential schemes, apartment developments, office buildings, hotel and leisure projects, and refurbishment works.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on a diverse range of building structures projects, gaining valuable experience across different materials and construction methods including steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber. As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you will be supported through your professional development while contributing to projects from early design stages through to construction. You will work closely with senior engineers, clients, architects and wider design teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with structural designs, calculations and technical reports
- Supporting the delivery of building structures projects across a range of sectors
- Gaining experience with materials including steel, concrete, masonry and timber
- Supporting projects from concept design through to detailed design and construction
- Preparing drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Liaising with engineers, architects, contractors and project stakeholders
- Coordinating designs with other engineering disciplines
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards and project requirements
- Developing technical knowledge and working towards professional accreditation
About You
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 1 to 2 years’ experience within a structural engineering consultancy
- Experience or interest in building structures projects
- Good understanding of structural engineering principles and construction methods
- Familiarity with structural design software such as TEDDS, Tekla, Robot, ETABS or similar
- Knowledge of UK design standards and building regulations
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn and develop
- Keen to work towards Chartership and continue professional development
