A growing multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking to strengthen its Nottingham office with the addition of a Senior Transport Planner. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner to take ownership of technically challenging projects, contribute to the development of a regional transport planning team, and advance their career within a supportive environment.
You will work on a variety of development-led projects, providing high-quality transport planning advice from concept through to delivery, while mentoring junior team members and liaising with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Statements, Notes, and Travel Plans
- Apply relevant local and national transport policy and guidance to projects
- Undertake junction capacity modelling using Junctions 10, LinSig, Quickgreen
- Utilise strategic and transport modelling tools such as TRICS and TEMPro
- Produce preliminary highway designs using AutoCAD and applicable design standards
- Work with GIS platforms including QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo, Basemap TRACC
- Manage projects, coordinating with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior staff to develop technical capability and confidence
About You
- 5+ years’ experience within UK transport planning or traffic consultancy
- Strong technical skills across transport assessments and planning applications
- Proficiency in modelling, design, and GIS software relevant to transport projects
- Experience liaising with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams
- A practical, hands-on approach with attention to detail
- Membership of a professional institution such as CIHT, IHE, TPS, or actively working towards chartership (TPP or CILT)
- Strong communication, organisation, and presentation skills
