An established, multi-discipline engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Civil Engineer to play a key role in the continued growth of its Nottingham operation.
This is a senior technical and leadership position, suited to an experienced civil engineer who enjoys remaining hands-on with design while also helping shape a team, influence project direction, and support the wider business strategy.
You’ll be involved in delivering technically robust, commercially sensible infrastructure solutions across predominantly residential-led developments, from early feasibility through to construction delivery.
The Role
- Leading the civil engineering design on a range of development projects
- Providing technical oversight and quality assurance across infrastructure and drainage schemes
- Delivering and reviewing designs associated with S278, S38, S185 and S104 agreements
- Remaining actively involved in design using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WinDes / InfoDrainage or similar
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, local authorities and project stakeholders
- Supporting work-winning activities and helping grow long-term client relationships
- Assisting with the development, mentoring and line management of engineers within the team
- Working closely with regional leadership to help shape and grow the civils offering in Nottingham
About You
You’ll be an experienced civil engineer with:
- 10+ years’ UK consultancy experience, ideally across residential and mixed-use schemes
- Strong technical capability in drainage and infrastructure design
- A proven track record of delivering projects through planning and detailed design stages
- Confidence managing clients and an understanding of commercial project drivers
- A practical, delivery-focused mindset with a desire to stay engaged in design
- Experience mentoring or managing engineers, or a clear ambition to move further into leadership
- Excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills
