Vertical Drop is an independent podcast studio in the heart of Clerkenwell. We produce high-quality video podcasts, focusing on crisp visuals and crystal-clear audio using industry-standard equipment.

The Role

We’re looking for a technically minded Studio Assistant to support our podcast production sessions. This is a hands-on freelance role that’s perfect for a student studying audio or sound engineering, or anyone with solid experience in studio tech and an interest in content creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup and breakdown of equipment before and after recordings.
  • Monitor and manage sound levels during sessions.
  • Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as:
  • Sony A6400 DSLR cameras (x3)
  • RØDE Procaster XLR mics
  • Zoom F6 recorder
  • Sony MDR headphones (x6)
  • RGB/Colour Temp LED studio lighting
  • Ensure all audio and video files are safely stored and backed up post-session.
  • Maintain the studio space and help manage equipment inventory.
  • What We’re Looking For

    • Must be based in London and able to work on-site in Clerkenwell.
    • Experience working with audio equipment in a studio or live environment.
    • Confidence in handling DSLR camera setups and LED lighting.
    • Currently studying or with a background in sound/audio engineering.
    • Reliable, self-motivated and detail-oriented.
    • Flexible with hours – you’ll be scheduled around recording sessions.

    Nice to Have

    • Familiarity with podcast production workflows.
    • Basic editing knowledge (audio/video).
