What to Expect
As a Battery Test Technician, you will join a collaborative and passionate team whose primary focus is on the development and validation of advanced battery systems for our fully electric VX4 aircraft. Your expertise will be essential in executing comprehensive cell testing activities that ensure our battery technology meets the highest standards of reliability and performance.
A typical day could involve conducting daily health checks on sophisticated test equipment, monitoring live test data to ensure high-quality results, or working with our electrochemistry test team to continuously improve testing methodology and processes.
Your ability to maintain excellent attention to detail, work autonomously, and collaborate effectively across teams will be key to your success in this role.
What You\’ll Do

Work with internal teams to understand and execute cell testing activities

Conduct daily health checks, equipment/rig maintenance and fault diagnostics

Provide periodic monitoring of live test data, ensuring high quality results

Continually improve testing methodology and processes to ensure the quality, reliability and repeatability of test data

Conduct basic data analysis and data sense checking

Work with external suppliers and internal facility teams to ensure equipment is serviced and calibrated according to requirements

Handle hardware and software fault finding and resolution in a timely manner

Provide feedback to the electrochemistry test team on day to day test progress

Maintain a high standard of lab practice and maintenance (experience of 5S or other is advantageous) and work with the electrochemistry test team to establish continuous improvement processes

Ensure all appropriate paperwork/documentation is completed and maintained (job cards, technical logs, reporting)

Work cross functionally within the battery team, supporting other relevant activities as required

Conduct fabrication and modification of components and test rigs using common workshop tools and equipment

Travel between Avonmouth, Bristol and other VA locations and stay away for short periods if required
What You\’ll Bring

1+ years experience in an engineering test-based environment

Excellent attention to detail and ability to operate to challenging deadlines without compromising standards or quality

Excellent communication skills, working honestly and openly to enable fast progress and problem solving

Strong working knowledge of electrical schematics and technical assembly drawings

Experience with wiring, crimping, soldering etc.

Ability to work autonomously and safely

Excellent problem solving skills, proactive and collaborative attitude

Experience in the use of battery cyclers and environmental chambers, data acquisition and battery test scripting languages
