What success will look like for you, as a Test Pilot?
The Flight Test team are a close-knit and agile team, working out of the Vertical Flight Test Centre and we are growing our existing test team in preparation for an exciting novel aircraft development programme. Part of this expansion is to bring in an experienced, passionate, and driven Test Pilot.
The Test Pilot will report to the Chief Test Pilot and Head of Flight Test, performing a critical role ensuring delivery of the company’s regulatory approvals and test activity in support of certifying our revolution on air mobility.
The successful candidate will be able to work in dynamic innovative teams, building positive working environments and diplomatically resolving challenges to programme delivery.
What would we like you to bring.
As a Test Pilot, you will be responsible for planning, delivery and reporting of company flight test activities and providing input to engineering functions in support of aircraft design. You will need to have the following qualifications:
- Commercial pilot’s licence (aeroplane or helicopter)
- Graduate of a recognised Test Pilot School experimental flight test course (Fixed or Rotary Test Pilot)
- Medical fitness to fly (Class 1 Medical)
Additionally, you will assist with a wide range of activities, including aircraft design & test reviews, interfacing with aviation authorities and industrial partners & safety assessments.
It would be desirable, but not essential, to have experience with:
- Current UK CAA pilot’s license (aeroplane or helicopter) with Cat 1 / Cat 2 Flight Test Rating
- Tiltrotor and/or VTOL experience
- Both fixed wing and rotary experience
- Previous experience with electric aircraft
- Experimental flight test for certification and / or airworthiness evaluation
- Whole aircraft certification programme delivery including planning, training, execution, and reporting
- Flight testing of highly augmented fly-by-wire flight control systems
- Experience of start-up companies
- Previous experience as a flight instructor
- Involvement with flight simulator development
- Experience with multi-copters (drones) and Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems (UAS/RPAS)
