About the Business
Join a large, well-established wholesale and distribution business with a nationwide footprint. Financially very strong and backed by a Big 4-audited balance sheet, this is a business investing seriously in commercial capability - and pricing is the next frontier.
The Opportunity
There is currently no pricing or revenue growth management (RGM) function in the business at all. This is a genuine build-from-scratch mandate: you'll design and embed a new pricing model, governance process and pricing culture from the ground up, with full backing from senior leadership. Reporting directly into a member of the senior commercial leadership team, you'll take full ownership of pricing and promotions strategy, working cross-functionally with Category, Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain and IT. You'll come in with one direct report (a Pricing Analyst), with strong potential for the team to grow as the function matures.
Why This Role
- A rare "0 to 1" opportunity - build and shape a brand-new function rather than inherit someone else's
- Embedding a new pricing model from scratch is a standout, CV-defining achievement
- Excellent stepping-stone role for someone looking to move into a Head of Pricing / RGM Director position next
- High visibility - you'll represent Pricing in cross-functional steering groups and trading meetings
- Backing to build a team as the function scales
What You'll Do
- Lead cross-functional pricing governance across Category, Finance, Supply Chain and Commercial
- Partner with Category Leads on pricing, promotions, KVIs and vendor-funded events
- Work with Finance to validate margin, forecast impact and scenario-model pricing actions
- Collaborate with Data & Analytics/BI teams to improve reporting, models and measurement tools
- Engage Supply Chain on availability risk when planning promotions
- Lead, coach and develop your Pricing Analyst(s), building a strong pricing culture from day one
- Drive continuous improvement in elasticity modelling and promo ROI
- Own change management for new pricing tools and processes
- Be measured on margin, promo ROI, market share, pricing accuracy and category performance
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years' experience in pricing, commercial or analytical roles
- Background in consulting (pricing/RGM/strategy), PE-backed businesses, retail, or food/CPG supply is highly relevant
- Bachelor's or Master's in Maths, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Data Science or another quantitative field
- Comfortable operating in a business with no existing pricing infrastructure β a builder, not just a maintainer
- Strong stakeholder management skills; confident presenting to senior leadership
