Position Overview: As a Client Development Manager, you’ll drive commercial growth by managing client relationships, identifying new consultancy opportunities and closing sales. This is not a cold new business role & is very much focused on building on current client/customer relationships; however, you’ll also play a key role in supporting the consultancy’s expansion by generating leads, delivering persuasive proposals and upselling services to existing clients. Your work will directly contribute to the consultancy’s revenue targets and help shape how clients across the food and drink sector access valuable market intelligence and insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage contract renewals and lead regular client check‑ins to understand evolving needs and opportunities
  • Generate, qualify and close new sales leads through proactive prospecting and relationship building
  • Identify and pitch consultancy solutions tailored to client challenges and business objectives
  • Write detailed commercial proposals that clearly articulate value and pricing
  • Support market report releases and coordinate product demonstrations to prospective clients
  • Attend networking events and industry conferences to build relationships and raise awareness
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer intelligence within Salesforce CRM systems
  • Deliver against individual upsell targets and contribute to team sales goals

Requirements:

  • Ideally 18 months experience in account development, business development or sales
  • Strong networking skills with the ability to build and nurture client relationships
  • Sharp commercial acumen and ability to identify client needs and pitch relevant solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence presenting to clients
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Problem‑solving mindset with a proactive, can‑do approach to challenges
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
