We are looking for a new Depot Manager to oversee the logistics/operations of our depot, including tools, vehicles, plant, equipment & more.
About us: Vertical Access is one of the UK’s most established rope access specialists, delivering geotechnical, inspection, structural and access solutions across the rail, construction, and infrastructure sectors. Founded in 1988, the business is recognised for our technical expertise, safe delivery and continued innovation in difficult-access environments. Working nationwide, we provide IRATA-led access, installation, maintenance and inspection services, supporting major clients across civil engineering, rail network schemes and industrial structures.
About the role: We are looking for a Depot Manager to oversee equipment integrity, compliance and depot readiness, ensuring all rope access and lifting equipment is maintained, certified, and deployed safely. This is a hands-on support role central to operational delivery, ensuring project teams have the tools, vehicles and certified equipment needed to mobilise safely and efficiently. It is not a project management role, but a critical position that underpins site safety, asset tracking, and equipment lifecycle management.
Requirements:
- Experience working within rope access, work-at-height, lifting, or associated safety-equipment environments – Essential
- Strong knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and IRATA standards governing in-use equipment – Essential
- Excellent organisational and depot-management skills with a proactive, hands‑on mindset – Essential
- Full UK licence – Essential
- Experience working with geotechnical plant/tools/equipment – Desirable
- Forklift licence, PAT testing experience and strong IT/record‑keeping capability – Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely certification – Desirable
Package info: Permanent full‑time role, Company pension, Sick pay, 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
Role info: Based Mossley, Greater Manchester, On‑site 5 days a week (some driving involved), Usual hours 8am‑5pm, but maybe some flexibility/overtime.
