What You'll Do
This is an exciting apprenticeship opportunity for a technically curious individual to join Vertex's Technical Services & Innovation team.
You will work closely alongside the Technical Services & Innovation Director, learning and contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of the digital systems that power Vertex's operations.
This role is not just about writing code β it is about understanding how systems connect, how businesses use technology, and how smart automation can transform the way a company works. Over time, you will develop into a confident digital systems practitioner with hands-on experience across a broad technology stack.
Key Responsibilities
As a Digital Systems Engineer Apprentice, your day-to-day work will include:
- Shadowingandsupportingthedesign,development,andmaintenanceofinternalbusinesssystems
- Assisting with API integrations between platforms and third-party services Contributing to web based tools and internal applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and Python
- Supportingdatabaseworkincludingquerying,reporting,anddatamanagement(SQL)
- AssistingwithUI/UXdesignforinternaltoolsanddashboards
- SupportingcloudinfrastructuretasksacrossAWSandMicrosoftAzure
- Working with GitHub for version control, code reviews, and collaborative development
- AssistingwithGoogleWorkspaceadministrationandintegrations
Exploring and implementing AI integrations to support business processes - Documentingsystems,processes,dataflows,anddependencies
- Supporting process redesign and simplification initiatives across the business
- Takingincreasingownershipofsmallercomponentsandtasksasskillsdevelop
- Adding new users and managing users through system and communication channels
