Vertex is seeking a Senior Manager, International Training & Capabilities to lead training and capability-building initiatives for international field sales teams, with a strong focus on launch readiness, sales effectiveness, and the unique needs of specialty and rare disease markets.

The role will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver impactful training programs and launch materials that prepare field sales teams for success across international markets.

This is an excellent opportunity for a training leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a complex, high-science commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead training and capability initiatives for international field sales teams.
  • Design and deliver launch training plans for new products and indications launches.
  • Develop high-quality training materials, including learner content, workshops, and digital learning tools.
  • Build programs that strengthen field sales team capabilities in product knowledge, disease state expertise, customer engagement, and selling skills.
  • Partner with Commercial, Marketing, Medical, Market Access, HR, and Compliance to ensure training is accurate, effective, and launch ready.
  • Adapt training content for international markets while maintaining strategic consistency.
  • Deliver training through live, virtual, and blended learning approaches.
  • Measure training effectiveness and continuously improve programs based on feedback and business needs.
  • Support managers and field leaders with tools and resources that reinforce learning and enable sustained performance in the field.
  • Ensure all training materials and delivery approaches comply with applicable legal, regulatory, and company requirements.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in commercial training, sales training, or capability development within biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare environments.
  • Experience supporting field sales teams in specialty and/or rare disease markets.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering launch training and field-facing learning materials, (launch readiness and launch training development).
  • Strong understanding of specialty selling models and complex customer environments.
  • Experience working across international markets and cross-functional, matrixed organizations.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Curriculum design and facilitation.
  • Learning management systems and e-learning tools.
  • Training analytics and effectiveness measurement.
  • Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Word, and related business tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Direct experience supporting field sales teams for specialty and/or rare disease product launches.
  • Experience in international or global commercial organizations.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and training effectiveness measurement.
  • Experience with train-the-trainer approaches and digital learning tools.
