Job DescriptionGeneral Summary: The Director, Commercial Strategy for the UK is accountable for developing and implementing the commercial strategy and operational plan for the Haematology (Heme) therapeutic area at the country level. This person is accountable for understanding the market landscape and Vertex's position, leading the UK Heme Commercial team (Sales, Marketing, and Treatment Centre Engagement) to deliver commercial goals. Develop and implement the Heme commercial strategy and operational plan in the UK, in alignment with the overarching corporate objectives. Lead the UK Heme Commercial team, including key office and field personnel, to deliver UK Heme objectives. Develop UK Heme Commercial competencies and capabilities to deliver field and marketing excellence. Develop and maintain network of key HCPs, treatment centres, patient organisations, and government stakeholders involved in the Haematology treatment ecosystem. Represent the company externally, including at networking events, conferences, and exhibitions, to enhance and strengthen the company's profile and optimize all business development opportunities. Champion and lead projects to optimise the UK Heme customer and patient experience, including referral, treatment journey, patient support and education, and treatment centre activation and onboarding processes. Member of the Country Leadership Team, with collective responsibility for UK performance, organisational capabilities, culture, and values. Ensure that all UK Heme commercial activities meet or improve on budget, revenue, cost, volume, and efficiency targets, in line with business objectives. Strong leadership skills, with significant experience in the biotech industry dealing with rare diseases/haematology space. Experience in fostering, developing, and driving teams to achieve key Commercial goals. Strong and successful background in sales and marketing or as a Business Unit (or similar) lead. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement commercial strategy and monitor performance. Ability to work collaboratively with others to provide a high-quality service for customers. Excellent project management skills. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
