This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of Market Access and Pricing strategies across distributor markets, with a strong focus on South America and the Middle East (~14 countries). The role partners cross‑functionally with Commercial Directors, International Pricing and Market Access, Global HEOR, Medical and distributor partners, primarily in cystic fibrosis (CF).

The right candidate will manage the technical aspects of pricing and reimbursement in South America and the Middle East, including independently leading and coordinating cross‑functional projects, preparing reimbursement dossiers with distributor partners, negotiating with payors, responding to payor inquiries, managing price changes and business cases for new launches, and supporting other market‑access efforts regionally.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop market‑access materials (price and reimbursement submissions, responses, price analyses) for Vertex medicines during launch.
• Collaborate with distributor partner representatives, colleagues, and external consultants to define the access strategy per country/product, prepare submission dossiers, support country‑specific economic models, and present evidence to payors.
• Lead development of solid business cases per country/product for internal senior leadership approval.
• Create innovative offers and access programs; lead payer negotiations with country commercial leads and distributor leads.
• Ensure pricing compliance across countries, manage country prices and analytics, maintain updated pricing systems, and collect local market insights, rules, and regulations.
• Enforce a culture of compliance and best practices, continuously improving efficiency and effectiveness of regional operations.
• Work closely with Vertex’s commercial, finance, medical, legal, marketing, and market‑access international teams, building relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain up‑to‑date payer insights across therapeutic areas and countries to inform regional strategy.
• Work with legal and OBIE departments to ensure compliance.
• Exhibit ownership and accountability for all projects and assignments.

Knowledge and Skills

• Significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry (prior market‑access roles and country‑specific experience) or in the market‑access space (consulting, payer experience).
• Experience working with distributor partners and understanding healthcare systems, reimbursement pathways for orphan drugs in South America and the Middle East.
• Experience managing negotiations directly with payors in the region.
• Solid analytical and quantitative skills demonstrated by recent deliverables.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence without direct authority.
• Excellent communication skills, strong oral/written presentation skills.
• Increased ethical conduct.
• Self‑starter, able to navigate a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to propose and experiment with new pricing and access approaches.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor\’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Proven experience in a similar role or a combination of education and experience.

Flex Designation

Hybrid‑Eligible or On‑Site Eligible. In this Hybrid‑Eligible role, you can choose to work remotely up to two days per week, or work five days per week on‑site with ad hoc flexibility.
