The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a growing e-commerce and distribution business looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to take ownership of its day-to-day business operations. This is a broad role where you will oversee the people, priorities and processes behind customer service, purchasing, stock, fulfilment, e-commerce and general administration. Working closely with the Director, you will help make sure the business runs efficiently, priorities are clear and issues are dealt with before they become bigger problems. This would suit someone who enjoys working in a smaller, fast-moving business where they can have a genuine impact rather than being responsible for one small part of a much larger operation.
What You'll Be Doing
- You will take responsibility for the smooth running of day-to-day operations, including:
- Coordinating daily and weekly operational priorities
- Managing and supporting a small team
- Making sure tasks are clearly delegated and followed through
- Improving processes and reducing recurring operational issues
- Overseeing customer orders, enquiries, returns and replacements
- Supporting purchasing, stock control and supplier management
- Coordinating with couriers, suppliers and fulfilment partners
- Ensuring operational systems and data remain accurate
- Supporting e-commerce operations across multiple online sales channels
- Identifying bottlenecks and implementing practical solutions
- Providing the Director with clear updates on performance, priorities and risks
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with previous experience in an Operations Manager, Business Operations, Operations Team Leader or similar operational role. You should be:
- Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Experienced in managing or supervising people
- Confident delegating work and holding people accountable
- A strong problem solver who takes ownership of issues
- Comfortable improving processes and ways of working
- Confident using Excel and operational/business systems
- Able to communicate professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues
Experience within e-commerce, distribution, automotive, stock management, purchasing, fulfilment or order management would be advantageous, although broader operations experience is more important. Experience with Linnworks, ERP, inventory or order-management systems would also be beneficial.
