Vertex Associates have partnered with a leading UK charity in their recruitment for a Deputy Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. You will be a key member of the finance function, providing strategic and operational financial support to enable sustainable growth, informed decision making, and accountable service continuity. This is a 100% remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Senior Leadership team and Senior Finance Personnel to develop the methodology behind the setting and maintenance of budgets, and forecasts to support strategic objectives.
- Leading on the finances of all potential contract and grant applications that align with the charity’s objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and insight to support strategic planning, investment decisions, and service development.
- Deliver high quality analysis of financial reports and performance.
- Monitor financial performance, highlight risks and opportunities and support corrective actions.
- Support the development of pricing models and cost recovery strategies for commercial contracts.
- Work closely with operational teams to track financial performance on volumetric based and act as a key finance business partner to service leads.
- Collaborate with the central charity finance team to ensure alignment on consolidated reporting and governance.
- Contribute to organisational risk management through our approach to the pricing of new contracts, particularly around funding volatility and service changes.
- Support long term financial sustainability by setting out an approach to scenario planning, in response to policy, funding and demand changes.
Key Requirements:
- Management of an FP&A function at a senior level which as part of a large or growing organisation.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling and the implementation of systems to keep these relevant.
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or Equivalent) or finalist, ideally 5 years PQE.
- Understanding of the regulatory framework for charities / social enterprises (SORP, Gift Aid, Restricted Funds).
- Understanding of public sector commissioning, including NHS, local authority etc.
