Senior IT Support Engineer – VMware / Hyper-V Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + Bonus + Benefits Location: Home Based / Oxford - up to 4 days per month An established, technology-led company is looking for an experienced Senior IT Support Engineer to join its IT team, supporting business-critical systems across a complex, highly available infrastructure environment This is a senior, hands-on technical role with a particular focus on virtualisation and IT supplier management, alongside the ongoing support and development of Microsoft-based infrastructure You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of significant infrastructure projects, contribute to technical decisions and bring fresh ideas to an experienced and supportive team Essential: * Strong, hands-on experience managing VMware and/or Hyper-V in complex infrastructure environments * Demonstrable experience of virtualisation projects, infrastructure changes or migrations * Previous involvement in managing IT suppliers, including commercial discussions, quotations, contracts or budgets * Solid Microsoft infrastructure experience, including Windows Server and Active Directory * Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to take ownership of technical challenges * A proactive, commercially aware approach, with the confidence to contribute ideas and recommendations Desirable Experience * Cloud infrastructure, including Azure and/or AWS * Microsoft Entra ID and wider Microsoft 365 technologies * Experience supporting highly available, business-critical systems * Relevant VMware, Hyper-V or Microsoft certifications * Experience evaluating infrastructure technologies and recommending improvements Tremendous opportunity offering plenty of scope for career progression in stable, friendly company where you'll be able to keep up to date with the latest infrastructure technologies, and enjoy a healthy work/life balance!
