The Role

As the Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for a variety of construction projects.

Working closely with senior leadership, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, you will play a vital role in securing new work and ensuring projects are commercially viable from the outset.

Continuity is essential as they look to grow their portfolio of business as well as a follow a clear commercial plan.

Given the nature of the role and the growth plans for the division, you will have the opportunity to become a trusted advisor within the business and contribute to the strategic development of the estimating function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Carry out material take-offs and quantity calculations.
  • Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the tender process.
  • Support negotiations and project handovers to operational teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong supply chain relationships.
  • Monitor labour, material, and market costs to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Contribute to the development of estimating processes within the new division.

About You

  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and procurement processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and organisational skills.
  • Experience producing competitive and accurate tender submissions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing your own workload.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working for a main contractor, specialist contractor, or fit-out business.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIOB or RICS.
