We have a project with a Central London-based client seeking an experienced Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) Support Engineer to support an existing live environment. The role will involve a mix of on-site support and telephone/email-based remote support over a 12-month period.
Role Overview
This engagement focuses on improving the security, stability, and operational health of an already configured Symantec Messaging Gateway platform. There is no requirement for greenfield implementation; instead, the emphasis is on security hardening, policy optimisation, and ongoing health checks.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the current SMG configuration and security posture
- Harden existing security settings in line with best practices
- Review, strengthen, and maintain SMG policies and rules
- Carry out regular platform health checks and preventative maintenance
- Identify security gaps or configuration weaknesses and resolve them
- Provide on-site support in Central London (2 days every fortnight)
- Deliver remote support via telephone and email as required
- Document changes, findings, and recommendations clearly

- Strong, hands-on experience with Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG)
- Proven experience in email security hardening and policy management
