This Security Officer post sits in the Security Services team at Vertas Group, based at Fred Olsen House in Ipswich. The work centres on guarding a site, greeting and signing in visitors, responding to incidents and working with emergency services when needed. It is a weekend-only role of 16.5 hours, covering Saturday and Sunday shifts. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, and prior security experience is preferred but not essential.
What the job involves
- Provide a professional front-of-house presence and keep the site safe and welcoming for staff, visitors and contractors
- Greet visitors, sign them in and out, and make sure site access procedures are followed
- Safeguard sites and respond swiftly to incidents
- Work with law enforcement and emergency services when required
- Document incidents accurately and report findings to management
- Help put loss prevention strategies in place to reduce theft and damage
- Maintain professionalism with clients, staff and the public
- Take part in ongoing training in security practice and first aid
