Lead Build Technician – Electromechanical Location: Royston Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 Employment Type: Permanent Sector: Robotics Are you a hands-on leader/supervisor who enjoys both building and developing others? We\’re partnering with a rapidly growing robotics manufacturer that designs, builds and supports cutting-edge robotic equipment and they\’re looking for a Lead Build Technician to join their manufacturing team. The Opportunity This Lead Build Technician – Electromechanical role is approximately 80% hands-on and 20% supervising a small team of technicians. You\’ll be involved in: Building and testing new robotic equipment Repairing, refurbishing and upgrading existing fleet units Supporting production capability as the business scales You do not need previous robotics experience, but you must have a background in electronics or electro-mechanical assembly and build. As the company grows, you\’ll help shape manufacturing operations, processes and team capability. What You\’ll Be Doing Working on the shop floor to fully understand product build and test processes Leading, mentoring and supporting a small team of technicians Ensuring build instructions and documentation are followed and adopted Delivering production plans with the buyer/planner Driving continuous improvement, standardised work and 5S practices Assisting with the introduction of new products into manufacture What We\’re Looking For in this Lead Build Technician – Electromechanical position: Essential: Degree in engineering, operations management or a related science Supervisory or team-leading experience Hands-on technical experience in manufacturing, assembly, testing or similar Experience hiring or developing team members Proven root cause problem-solving ability Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK Personal Attributes: Disciplined, proactive and delivery-focused Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise effectively Balanced approach to process adherence and practical intervention Data-driven and improvement-focused Personable and emotionally intelligent Enjoys simple, practical solutions What\’s on Offer Training in lean manufacturing Progression towards senior manufacturing leadership Involvement across the full product lifecycle Opportunity to help scale a rapidly growing hardware business Interested?
