A well-established engineering and R&D team is looking for a hands-on Test Engineer to help shape how their next generation of embedded electronic instrumentation products is validated, automated and brought into production. This isn't a role where you'll inherit a finished test rack and run the same scripts every day. You'll own the test plan and process for new product development projects from early concept through to production readiness - designing automated test fixtures, writing the software that drives them, validating products against both technical and user requirements, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with the software, electrical and mechanical engineers building the products themselves.

It would suit someone currently working as a Test Development Engineer, Product Validation Engineer or Embedded Systems Test Engineer who enjoys the build side of testing as much as the execution side. The role reports into the VP of Global Engineering, so the test function is taken seriously here.

What you'll be doing:

  • Owning system-level test plans and processes for NPD projects, with a focus on product performance, automated test systems and requirements traceability.
  • Designing and building test fixtures — both engineering and production — for new products and subsystems across mechanical and electronic hardware.
  • Writing automated test scripts and software in Python and/or C/C++.
  • Running integration and validation testing against product specifications and user needs.
  • Negotiating test requirements with product management, project management and the wider project team, then communicating those requirements clearly.
  • Collaborating with software, mechanical and electrical engineering on requirements definition and integrated solutions.
  • Producing and maintaining clear documentation covering system design, root cause analysis and product functionality.

What we're looking for:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (computer, electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering).
  • 3–5 years in product testing and test process development.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++ for test automation.
  • Hands-on experience designing or building electronic test fixtures and test equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of communication protocols and hardware interfaces.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools and EDA software.
  • Comfortable with debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and critical-thinking skills.

Why this one is worth a look:

The team is growing, the R&D investment is real and ongoing, and the work spans the full product lifecycle — concept, validation, NPI and production. It's a strong fit for someone who wants to build things, not just test what's handed to them.
