This role will be predominantly home-based, so you could live anywhere in the UK. However, their head office is in the Heathrow area and you would be expected to be there a lot in your first few weeks/months for orientation and training.

We’re working with a specialist engineering systems manufacturer, supplying bespoke, high-value test and motion control solutions to customers across Europe. Their products are complex, mission-critical, and sold on long, consultative sales cycles; this is not transactional sales.
They’re now looking for a Sales Engineer who is equally comfortable hunting new opportunities and growing existing accounts. This is a technically led sales role covering European customers, focused on selling custom-engineered systems, as well as associated services.
You’ll act as the technical and commercial lead for customers throughout the sales lifecycle, from early engagement and requirements capture through to proposal delivery, project handover, and ongoing relationship management.
Key elements include:
- Proactively identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Managing and growing existing customer relationships.
- Owning and developing a pipeline of long-term, high-value opportunities.
- Discussing mechanical, control systems, and automation requirements with engineering teams.
- Creating and presenting technical proposals and quotations.
- Acting as the technical point of contact for customers during project delivery.
- Supporting installations, design reviews, and project close-out activities.
- Representing the business at trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events.
- Working closely with internal engineering, production, and project teams.
This is a home-based role with regular travel to customers and occasional visits to the UK headquarters.
Essential – Knowledge & Experience
- Background in mechanical engineering, control systems, automation, robotics or mechatronics.
- Experience in technical B2B sales of complex or capital equipment.
- Proven ability to win new business and develop long-term accounts.
- Comfortable managing long sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.
- Able to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel across Europe.
