We’re looking for a Senior or Staff-level Firmware Engineer to lead the design and development of safety-critical embedded software, shaping both the technical direction and the quality framework that underpins a regulated medical device environment.
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of firmware development for a new class of insulin delivery technology, working at the intersection of engineering, quality, and regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in structured environments, enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams, and wants their work to have meaningful real-world impact. A key success marker in your first year will be establishing robust firmware lifecycle processes and ensuring audit-ready documentation and practices.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading development of safety-critical firmware for insulin pump systems
- Defining and improving firmware lifecycle processes, documentation, and audit readiness
- Working closely with Quality, Regulatory, and Systems Engineering teams
- Ensuring compliance with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and medical device development standards
- Contributing to architecture, design reviews, risk management, and verification activities
- Mentoring engineers and supporting best-practice adoption across the team
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on embedded firmware development
- Experience in regulated or safety-critical domains (medical devices preferred but not essential)
- Strong understanding of structured development processes and documentation
- Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or similar compliance frameworks
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Quality & Regulatory teams
- A proactive mindset and confidence in leading technical direction
