A leading engineering organisation in Surrey is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of complex mechanical systems from concept through to production. This position offers the chance to work on high integrity, performance critical products where innovation, precision, and engineering excellence are central to the work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of assemblies and components involving actuators, hydraulics, or motion control systems
- Produce high quality 3D models and detailed drawings using a modern 3D CAD package (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar)
- Drive concept development, prototyping, testing, and design validation
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including electronics, manufacturing, and systems engineering
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and peer review for junior engineers
- Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements
About You
- Proven experience in actuator design, hydraulic systems, or similar high force/high precision mechanisms
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools and engineering documentation standards
- Solid understanding of materials, tolerances, manufacturing processes, and mechanical engineering best practice
- Confident communicator able to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proactive, hands on approach to problem solving
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to FEA or CFD
- Experience in regulated or safety critical industries
- Knowledge of systems integration or mechatronics
