A global manufacturing company operating within the healthcare sector is looking to appoint an experienced QHSE Manager to join its team in Poole, Dorset.
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, this role will take ownership of the company’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, ensuring compliance, reducing operational risk and maintaining high standards across all areas of the business. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established organisation with ambitious growth plans, where you will play a key role in driving a proactive QHSE culture and supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory and field environments.
The Role
As QHSE Manager, you will oversee the company’s quality and health & safety management systems while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance and a safe working environment across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the company’s QHSE strategy across all operational areas
- Maintain compliance with standards including ISO9001 and ISO14001, while supporting the rollout of ISO13485
- Take full ownership of the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process
- Oversee goods-in inspection processes for critical components and final dispatch inspection of products
- Manage the rejects process, ensuring accurate tracking, analysis and resolution
- Conduct monthly QHSE performance reviews and present reports to senior leadership
- Lead the Health & Safety Committee and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure Safe Systems of Work and robust risk assessments are in place across all activities
- Investigate accidents and near-miss events, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Support field service activities by ensuring appropriate risk assessments and compliance procedures are in place
- Assist sales teams with customer and contractor compliance documentation where required
- Deliver employee inductions covering quality, safety and environmental policies
- Oversee building maintenance activities to ensure the workplace remains safe and compliant
- Provide data-driven reporting and improvement roadmaps to senior management
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a QHSE leadership role within a manufacturing or regulated environment
- Strong working knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001, with experience supporting ISO13485 desirable
- Experience managing audits, CAPA processes and regulatory compliance
- Good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation including PUWER, LOLER, COSHH and RIDDOR
- Experience supporting field-based engineering teams or customer-site operations
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to present data to senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation
- Proactive mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement
