We are recruiting for an established engineering business supplying specialist equipment used across the construction, civil engineering and laboratory sectors.
They are looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer to join their team, servicing, calibrating, repairing and installing equipment at customer sites throughout the UK.
The Role - Field Service Engineer β Electro-mech/Hydraulic equipment
This is a varied, practical role combining field-based customer visits with time at the company's facility supporting repairs and technical enquiries.
You'll be responsible for
- Servicing and calibrating specialist equipment at customer sites.
- Fault-finding across mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Replacing hydraulic and mechanical components where required.
- Installing and commissioning equipment.
- Providing technical support and training to customers.
- Completing service reports, calibration records and compliance paperwork.
- Supporting repairs and servicing in the workshop.
- Planning and managing your own UK travel and customer visits.
Initially, expect around 2β3 days per week on the road, with the role becoming increasingly field-based as you develop.
There are also opportunities for international travel, including assignments across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australia for installations, servicing, calibration and training.
About You - Field Service Engineer β Electro-mech/Hydraulic equipment
We're looking for a practical, hands-on engineer who is comfortable working independently and dealing directly with customers.
You'll ideally have
- Previous Field Service / Service Engineering experience.
- A strong mechanical engineering background.
- Practical knowledge of hydraulics, including pumps, cylinders, fittings and valves.
- Experience with fault-finding, servicing, testing, calibration or commissioning.
- Good practical skills and confidence using hand tools.
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
Experience within construction, civil engineering, concrete/cement, materials testing, laboratories or another regulated environment would be advantageous.
Knowledge of ISO 17025, UKAS or similar quality/laboratory systems would also be beneficial, but is not essential.
