Ready to work on advanced electronics that need to perform when failure is not an option? An established engineering organisation is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to support the development and ongoing improvement of robust embedded hardware used in demanding operational environments.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys practical engineering, structured problem-solving, and taking technical ownership of real-world products throughout their lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with experienced specialists across engineering and manufacturing while building the confidence and autonomy expected of a professional engineer.

The Role

You’ll contribute to the design, validation, and ongoing support of complex electronic systems, helping ensure products remain reliable from initial release through long-term deployment.

  • Managing assigned sections of electronic hardware across development, testing, manufacturing, and in-service support
  • Diagnosing and resolving technical faults using systematic investigation and root-cause analysis methods
  • Carrying out validation and reliability activities against defined technical requirements
  • Supporting new product development through circuit design input, technical reviews, and prototype verification
  • Assisting manufacturing teams with production support and test implementation
  • Helping improve engineering processes, documentation standards, and development workflows

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Around 2 years or more working with electronic systems development, testing, or product support
  • Ability to manage assigned technical activities with a good level of independence
  • Strong analytical thinking and practical debugging capability
  • Familiarity with embedded computing platforms and digital electronics concepts
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Additional Experience That Would Be Useful

  • Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial, though not essential:
  • Modern digital communication protocols and peripheral interfaces - particularly high-speed.
  • Power conversion or regulated power design concepts
  • High-performance processor-based hardware platforms
  • Supporting hardware products already in manufacture or deployed in operational use

What’s on Offer

  • Structured technical progression with clearly defined engineering levels and development expectations
  • Opportunities to grow into senior technical positions over time
  • Involvement in sophisticated, high-reliability electronic products used in challenging conditions
  • Supportive engineering environment focused on collaboration, technical quality, and continuous improvement
