Are you an experienced Quality Engineer looking for a varied role where you can take ownership of quality across production, engineering projects and suppliers?
We're working with an established manufacturing business in Fareham looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join their QHSE team.
You'll play a key role in maintaining high quality standards, investigating non-conformances, supporting engineering projects and driving continuous improvement across the business.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of interaction across Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Suppliers and Customers.
The Role
- Investigate and manage non-conformances, customer complaints and quality issues
- Carry out root cause analysis using tools such as 8D and 5 Whys
- Implement effective corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence
- Provide quality assurance support across engineering projects and product changes
- Develop and manage project Quality Plans and audit plans
- Support design reviews and ensure quality risks are identified and controlled
- Manage project quality issues through to effective resolution
- Carry out internal audits against ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
- Assess and audit new and existing suppliers to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Monitor supplier quality performance and work with suppliers to reduce defects
- Inspect electrical, electronic and mechanical components against engineering drawings and specifications
- Work with customers and suppliers on complaints, rejects, FAIRs and change control
- Support continuous improvement activities, including process improvement and value stream mapping
- Help maintain the company's Environmental Management System and associated quality objectives
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience with root cause analysis and corrective action
- Good knowledge of quality tools including 8D and 5 Whys
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Experience inspecting electrical, electronic and mechanical components
- Experience using inspection and measuring equipment such as micrometers and vernier gauges
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with customers, suppliers and internal teams
- A structured, process-driven approach with excellent attention to detail
- Good data analysis and reporting skills
- Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 auditing would be highly beneficial
- Experience within a regulated, defence or highly controlled manufacturing environment would be advantageous
