This position would suit an engineer with a strong background in hydraulics who enjoys seeing projects through from initial design and build, right through to installation, commissioning and customer support.

The Role

You’ll work closely with engineering, manufacturing and commissioning teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to specification. The role is primarily based at the production facility in Egham, with regular travel to customer sites for installation, testing and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of projects both in-house and on customer sites (including international travel)
  • Coordinate engineering design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and documentation
  • Monitor project progress, resolve technical issues and report status to management
  • Carry out in-house setup, testing, calibration and fault-finding of hydraulic systems
  • Support on-site installation, testing, calibration and commissioning activities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and directives (ISO, Machinery Directive, Health & Safety)
  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Act as the technical point of contact for customers during project delivery
  • Liaise with customers to clarify requirements and provide post-installation training
  • Provide ongoing customer support, both on-site and remotely
  • Participate in design reviews and project close-out activities

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with hydraulic systems in a manufacturing environment
  • HND or degree qualification in an engineering discipline
  • Strong hands-on experience with hydraulic system setup, testing and fault-finding
  • Broad engineering knowledge across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic disciplines
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Willingness to travel internationally when required

Desirable:

  • Formal hydraulic qualification
  • Experience with control systems or servo-controlled equipment
  • Exposure to calibration, performance testing and compliance documentation
  • Experience working on low-volume, high-value engineered systems

Why apply?

  • Salary of £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience
  • Varied role covering project delivery, hands-on engineering and customer interaction
  • Exposure to complex, high-value hydraulic systems
  • International travel opportunities
