We’re seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support a busy manufacturing site in Colchester during a critical period of audit preparation and QMS improvement. This short‑term contract is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on quality environment and can quickly embed structure, compliance, and documentation control.
You’ll play a key role in strengthening ISO9001 compliance, preparing the business for upcoming audits, and tightening QMS processes and documentation. This role requires someone confident, organised, and able to hit the ground running in a fast‑moving production setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead ISO9001 readiness activities ahead of internal and external audits
- Review, update, and manage QMS documentation to ensure full compliance
- Support audit preparation, including gap analysis, corrective actions, and evidence collation
- Work closely with production, engineering, and leadership teams to embed quality standards
- Drive improvements across processes, documentation, and quality controls
- Ensure all quality records, procedures, and work instructions are accurate and up to date
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer within a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of ISO9001, audit preparation, and compliance
- Hands‑on experience managing QMS, documentation, and process controls
- Ability to quickly assess gaps, implement improvements, and drive structure
- Confident communicator able to influence and collaborate across teams
- Highly organised, detail‑driven, and comfortable working onsite in a fast‑paced setting
